Figuarts: Nico Robin and Tony Tony Chopper New World

Hey gang. Today I'll be taking a look at the Robin and Chopper figuarts for the New World. These two are the last in the Mugiwara crew to be released from this line. (and joins the list of pairing releases like Sanji + Brook the perverts, UsoNam and RoCho)

As you can already tell the box design mirrors that of the rest of the series, and fortunately they've decided to be sensible too with the box size (to an extent) Chopper's box is a great deal smaller than Robin's although Robin's box seems a lot larger than it needs to be. Over half of the size used simply for her base.

The lovely Nico Robin is easily the better of the two, an almost perfect figure finally in a more action themed pose than usual. The paint job is nearly perfect, her top and skirt designs done with care very rarely shown in a lot of figures. The shine of her top makes her feel unique compared to a lot of other variations of this outfit. Also of note is how tight fitting the skirt seems to be, not to mention how low it is. I can't help but wonder how nice a actual fabric version of this skirt could do on a figure like this.

The only downfall with the figure is I can't help but feel they could have done a bit more with her. She's in a pose that looks like she's ready for battle however could we not have seen alternate hands which included extra arms attached? (and why do we so infrequently see these Hana Hana powers used in Robin figures?)

Paintwork on this figure is rather decent. The only thing I have a problem is her sunglasses, the silver has ran into her hair slightly. However compared to Banpresto's usual paintjobs it's high quality.

Chopper is how you expect a Brain Point Chopper to be. Adorably cute. Again the paintwork is excellent, this one coming wiht no errors that I can see, even everything has been painted within the lines. A feat that seems difficult for most painters.

Chopper comes with both a regular arm for his usual brain point pose and also comes with the Ultimate Manly Stick Of DOOOOOM. A weapon so powerful we only saw him use it for a chapter or so. It's a nice addition to come with, even moreso when it's an extra arm instead of slotting in (considering my POP snapped within a day of putting it in.) means you get some nice variety if you wanna change things up a little bit. It's not Heavy or Walk Point (Despite both of these desperately needing larger figures) but it'll do.

Both Robin and Chopper come with the new four-sided bases as we have seen in the recent months. Another right step in the right direction taken in this line. Robin's base is the same size as Luffy's and Chopper's is obvious shorter. Due to the positioning of Robin it means Chopper's can easily fit on Robin's base to save on that much needed space. Chopper can also stand without his base and Robin even comes with a clear mould for her skirt to clip into that means neither really need their bases at all. Helping us fans combat that much needed space issue. It's something that I think has been required for some time and I do hope that we start to see this done by the others.

Overall these two are easily two of the better figures in my collection, going along with the Luffy. Personally while I love all the gashapon and WCFs it's not until we get larger figures like this that makes me really happy to be a collector. At the moment they're the best on offer for the Time Skip versions of these characters and it really makes me hope Megahouse and Banpresto pull their figures out and provide us with higher quality versions of them.

I give both Robin and Chopper a 9/10 While this might change once better versions of them come out by the other companies as it stands these are the best on offer thus far. I look forward to being able to collect more Figuarts in the future (especially if they continue to have these new type of bases.)

Now if only Nami and Brook would hurry up and arrive already...
